Try this activity and observe the clouds over your neighborhood.

Lots of people like to look at clouds and try to see shapes in them - shapes like flowers, animals, or even people. Go outside and see if you can find a cloud that looks like something or somebody you know.

Take a piece of paper and something to draw with, like a pencil or crayon. Once you find a few clouds that look like something you recognize, draw them on the top of your paper.

Leave room on the bottom. Go back to your computer and compare your drawings with the clouds on the Send In the Clouds page. Can you figure out what types of clouds you have?

Do your clouds look like a feather? Probably high clouds.

Are they fluffy or bumpy? Do your drawings look like puffs of cotton or mashed potatoes? Did you see clouds that look like rabbits or mice? Fish scales? Probably all middle clouds. The clouds that look like mashed potatoes and animals are fair weather Cumulus.

Are your clouds top heavy like a cauliflower, a tank, or a person wearing a hat? Probably thunderstorm clouds.

Once you identify the clouds, draw some people underneath them. Think about what they might they be doing based on what the cloud tells you about the weather.

Should they be running for cover wet from raindrops?

Can they be swimming or camping?
