Hi All,

I am looking for someone to do the presidential traverse with in July or August.

Just did Mt Jefferson this Saturday (in 60 mph winds and with no view whatsoever) and Mt Willey on Sunday (in beautiful sunshine with the bugs out in full force). I have done Mt Washington before and a total of 18 of the 48 4000-footers.

Anyone interested or is there a planned group that I could join?

Not sure if you'll find a group to hike with here, though there are lots of hikers. There was a fella went by the handle Mtn Magic that used to post upcoming trips he was leading, but I haven't seen any posts from him in a while. Probably wasn't getting much response here. Try searching this forum for his posts and dropping him a private message, may get his attention. Are you out there, Mtn Magic?

Also try this:

There's a section in this forum for upcoming hikes and events.

The folks in the AMC are always setting up hikes, there are several chapters, try finding something on http://www.outdoors.org/

(By the way, I know what you mean about Saturday. Washington was about 20 foot visibility in the clouds starting around 5000 feet, and gusting to hurricane winds with freezing rain at the summit, nice)

There happens to be a big group of people climbing Mount Washington on July 28th. Not exactly a Presidential traverse but its for a good cause.

I just smacked myself in the forehead. Thanks Bill. I highly recommend the July 28th Seek the Peak trip. Info here:

Anyone looking for a group to do Washington with mark July 28th on your calendar. This is the day for the observatory fund raiser and will be an AWESOME day to get out and hike for a great cause. The fund raiser is called Seek the Peak and all money raised goes to the observatory on the summit. Full info can be found at http://seekthepeak.org/

I am thinking of giving it a try in late Sptember if that still works for you (was going to try a one day traverse on Saturday 10/22). Since it is currently solo, and additional car would be GREAT! If you are interested let me know......
