I want to get up the courage to volunteer as a cook/dishwasher for the crew at the summit. I also have this burning desire to hike to the top before I can't. It must be something in the air!

Mt Washington is an emotional thing. If you fall in love with her, you keep on coming back. I have a log book of all the hikes starting with an estimate (pretty good one for the years up to my 30's - 40's). Then it is details of date, trails, who went and even some weather conditions. My total hiking to the summit is now just over 50 times. Last summer I did it 3 times including STP. This year i am a bit behind schedule with STP being my first hike up.

The summer camp I went to in NH had a Mt Washington Squad which was an honor trip. The staff selected who would go. Citizenship and support of others was as important as ability to do it. From that hike in 1959 I have been coming back for more each year. This year I will drive up from NC - take a day of rest - then join in the STP fun on Saturday. It is a great mountain - the trails are good - there is so much variety that each time up is different. But, one does have to watch out for the weather and be safe.

Drawn to Mt Washington,
I also seem to never get enough, First hike when I was
12 years old. Lived in MA. back then.
Now Living in NH for 15 years, I have this unreal
draw to this Mt. You will find me on any given time of
the year sleeping in my truck or in the back of my truck,
all to spend time next to this MT.
I have been up the auto road by myself in a ragging blizzard
in Jan. To a midnight climb to tux. in May. I can sit just about
anywhere on MT Washington and find my Peace. (spent hours on
the snow fields just a Month ago or so (no snow). But plenty in
bowl and high on Lions head.
I think I know what draws me in and I am just thankful to
have this place to feel closer to Him.(My Father)
In the last couple of years all my climbs have been around
This MT.

We will watch for you in the Ravines camera when you are at HoJo's. When you get to the summit make sure you stand on the deck for the Deck camera to get you on the quarter hour.

Well? Did you do the hike? The weather all day looked awesome.
IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE DAYS OF MY LIFE.
I can't stop smiling.

PERFECT WEATHER!!!
It doesn't get any better!!!

This day was a gift.

I left my house at 6 am.
On the trail at 9 (Tuckerman's).
That really was quite the "highway".
Lunch rocks "mini picnic".
Summit @ 1:15.
Full picnic (plaid blanket included) on the obs. deck.
Time out: 3:00 - down Lion's Head.
Very peaceful - no traffic down.
Cascade Falls by 7.
Paiding for my MW badge for my pack by 7:30.
Ice cream at 8.
Home by 10:30.

SMILE . . . SMILE . . . SMILE!!!

Is anybody traveling from Moosebrook to the Jewell TH? I'm not, but I'm curious how to get there. I can't find the answer anywhere on this forum and mapquest doesn't work!

Thanks.
