I have created a Seek The Peak folder for pictures of the event. Mine are being uploaded right now. If you have pictures to upload and share, let me know and I will create an album for you. It can be set so you can e-mail each image file as an attachment and the system will post them for you. Or you can bulk upload if I give you the password to the account. Either way works fine. I am doing the bulk upload. When done there will be 116 pictures.

The Seek The Peak folder is at http://public.fotki.com/MWO/stp/

If you want copies of any of these pictures, I can give you the specific URLs to get access to the original uploaded file.

Once the uploading by others is done I will be changing the password.

There is a lot of talk back and forth - especially with the folks who are going at your pace.

One group from Canada speaking French - a couple of German men - a woman who works at a prison - a MWO orbserver - first time folks. A very social bunch.

I couldn't find any in Tucks. I heard there was still some ice hiding under the rocks in Huntington's though.

Great pics, Brad! Nice to see all those smiling faces. What a great thing the hike raised so much money. How is it we didn't meet at the dinner? We had a table with Rockin'Rex, Do not go gentle, Bill O, Detour to the Whites and all the volunteers, how did we miss you? Emma looked all over for you!

I don't think there is an answer to that question I think it just shows too extremes. One with maybe too much and one with maybe not enough. Have you seen the pic of you that brad took.

I have my pictures to post but not sure how to get them from shutterfly to here. This is the first time I will be posting pictures. Once I know how to move over my album I will post them. Also is there a way to post the videos.
Blue dog said I should post the video I have of the slabs on Huntington. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!!

Rex you can just post the link to the page like I did. It actually takes up less of the forums space and only people who want to see it will check them out.

Here's the gallery of my pics from the weekend.

For reference, the first handful of images is from our trip up when we stopped in Franconia Notch and wandered up the Falling Waters trail. On Friday we went out and did the Georges Gorge loop just to get a feel for the trails on MW. Then you'll get to the pics of the hike.

Hi Brad!

I tried to email you, but it probably went directly to your spam folder. Can I use a few of your photos from Seek-the-Peak on our website? Our camera died (my fault) before the hike even began. We're actually in quite a few of your pics! I'll give full credit to you. Please let me know! Thanks! Valerie

p.s. I can send you the link so you can review and approve before it goes public!

OK, I'm stumped... Brad, how do I add an album to your STP "various contributors" page? I can't figure it out.

In any event, here's the link to my own page (http://public.fotki.com/fifteendays/stp7/). This is my hike, along with my friends Jeremy & Niki.

Scot,

1. You can send individual image files to the "Various" album by sending an e-mail with an image file attached to mwo+stp07various@fotki.com

2. I can create a new album for you, give it a different e-mail addres, and then you can e-mail files to that one - for just your pictures.

3. Or you can log in under the MWO account using the account's password and use the built in "add pictures" capability.

In case you want your own album, I will create one and send you the password.

Scot,

The album for your pictures has been created and set up with an e-mail address. I sent a PM to you with the ID's password.

Once logged into the account click on the album's icon in the list. On the left when in a album click on the link for "Add Photos" which is on the left. There are several ways of uploading photo files. There is an ActiveX version which works well in Internet Explorer. The Java version works well in FireFox. One can also use an FTP client like SmartFTP to do bulk uploads. Just point to ftp.fotki.com and use the ID and password.

If anyone else wants an album for their pictures, let me know and I will create an album for you and give you the password in a private message.

Scot,

Great pictures! I saw that you hit the summit around 8:30 AM and thought that you must of flown up there. Then I realized you started at 5:30 AM - which means you made very good time.

I almost clicked the "Report this image" to Fotki since you all looked like you were having way too much fun.

Not a problem. Post a comment under each picture you want and I will send you the links to get the original files to download.

Thanks Brad! I think that I downloaded the originals successfully. I used the "Get Original Uploaded Photo" link that is found directly under each of the pictures in the Fotki album. Then right-clicked and used "Save As...".

I'll get a link out here once I've incorporated the pictures into the trip report!

Doing the Crawford trail Saturday with an overnight at Lakes', summit on Sunday and then down to find some more of that 6288 stout!! Again, great job everyone! Looking forward to seeing you at next years event if not on the trail sooner.

Val, you did a very nice job on your site. It is funny how many pictures you two were in! I did not realize till just now reviewing the selection of pictures you used that it was you coming back down the stairs also as i went by. Yes, Brad - You caught us in a lot of them! Tim and I commented to each other that we've *never* had so many photos with us in them (never mind both of us at the same time)! Thanks again for all your hard work with the camera.

Next year, we'll try and contribute the same way!

Maybe next year you can take a picture of me. My wife is always asking if I had someone take one and the answer is always no. Just too busy to think about it.

Next year I will either get in shape beforehand (a week to get in shape does not work well) or I will carry less weight (or both). I had water, snacks, the SLR camera, normal lens, big wide angle lens which I used all the time, and a 500mm zoom lens that weighs a ton. I did get to use the 500mm a couple of times and allowed me to get a couple of the shots.

This was at 116mm
http://images27.fotki.com/v967/photos/8/8235/5232955/IMG_4933-vi.jpg

And this was at 500mm looking down from Lions Head.
http://images114.fotki.com/v970/photos/8/8235/5232955/IMG_4938-vi.jpg

I carried the same weight this past weekend and did a lot better.

By all means. That is a great idea Brad. The trip that Bax and I did on Sunday is also included in the pictures. We did Adams via the Spur Trail. We headed up to Crag camp dumped our packs at Crag then flew up to Adams. We stopped by Madison Hut had some soup then headed back to Lowes path and down to Crag camp. We had our own bunk room at Crag. What an amazing place!!! When coming out to the Appalacia parking lot after the hike, the weekend that my son and I had just experienced together over whelmed me. As the pictue shows the tears were flowing. This was a weekend that will NEVER be forgotten!!

I posted our pictures at the MWO site. Just to fill you in we started the hike at 9:00am and made great time to Gem pool. Then the work began. We slowed down considerably, especially over the ledges. My daughter needed help over several places but my son is like a mountain goat out in the lead the whole way. Tracy did well for her first major hike with so much elevation gain. We made it to Lakes in 3.5 hrs. and rested about 1/2 hr. The weather to this point stayed partly cloudy with most clouds still clearing the summit. Just a short time after leaving the hut the clouds began to drop in on us and we were in the clouds the entire time from there on in with light rain or drizzle. From Lakes to the Summit took just over an hour. When we got to the summit the winds were around 25 mph and cloudy/foggy. Tracy was worn out and wasn't looking forward to hiking down and I wasn't in much better shape due to fighting a cold, not to mention that if we did hike down we would have missed the after party. So I rode the Cog down to get the Jeep and drove around and up the Auto road and picked up the gang. Needless to say we had lots of fun and Tracy got her shirt that says...This body climbed Mt Washington.

Steve,

Thanks for posting your pictures! It is great to see such a nice collection from both sides of the mountain. As we drum up business for STP 2008 we will be able to refer people interested in hiking to these albums to check things out beforehand.

The weather this Saturday is looking better and a friend and I are planning on going up the same route (Ammo - Lakes of the Clouds - summit) then down the Jewell Trail. It looks like there is more water on the Ammo than normal this time of year.
