As I was checking out the new design of the web site I saw the major sponsors listed at the bottom of the home page. A special thanks to those companies for their help supporting such a great organization. I had not seen AccuWeather.com listed before as a sponsor. Nice to see.

Suggestion: Make the www.AccuWeather.com link go to their Mt Washington weather information.

Good catch Brad, you seem to be the first person to notice this and say something.

This link is part of a deal with AccuWeather that is still being finalized, but is almost there.

Some might recall when I was an intern from Jan. to May of '06 that I also wrote a blog on AccuWeather.com (http://www.accuweather.com/news-column-blog.asp?partner=accuweather&myadc=0&traveler=0&webcaster=clarkb). This ended shortly after my internship ended.

Now, my father (who also writes a blog on AccuWeather.com (http://www.accuweather.com/news-blogs.asp?partner=accuweather&myadc=0&traveler=0&webcaster=clark&blog=clark))has been a forecaster for about 32 years, since it early days. Prior to working for the Obs, I did radio broadcasting for AccuWeather for 5 while going to school at PSU, and was also a forecasting intern with the company during the summer of '06.

So when I started with the Obs full-time in June, I began talking to people at AccuWeather and got them in touch with Scot Henley, the Observatory's Executive Director. After some talks a deal was reached that involves a lot of cross linking between AccuWeather.com and mountwashington.org. Plus, I get to start my blog again. :D It's actually a great deal for both parties....everyone is going to benefit from it.

Like I said, the deal is in it's final stages of being worked out. It just has to go through some legal stuff at AccuWeather. So, barring something falling through, it's going to happen and I'm excited about it and will be sure to upadate everyone on here when I know more!

This is a great suggestion, except there's a pretty big problem. If you go to AccuWeather.com and get a forecast for Mt. Washington, it's pretty darn bad....unfortunately.

It's actually been discussed a bit recently in this thread (http://www.mountwashington.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1824).

I am hoping to be able to work with them in the near future to improve the forecast so that it would be worthwhile to link to from our site.

Few, I was just going to bring that up. I think its best to let Accuweather forecast for where people live and let the MW Observers forecast for the summit.

I'm not privy to the details, but I'd wager that the agreement stipulates a link to their home page, not any subpage.

Ah - but - since I am a MWO member - and the member record has my zip code in it - make the link to Accuweather.com using my zip code. If I am not a member, then go to the home page.
