I have never done Hntington. But, maybe others have pictures from the trail. The Photo Journal has this picture taken in August 2007.

I have done huntington a few times, but only once in the summer and unfortunately I have no pictures. However the photo above is the most telling. There is a steep slabby section above the fan(which is an area of talus) that requires the use of handholds for balance and safety. A fall in this area would have serious consequences. In good, dry conditions it's merely an area that requires some caution, but its not a good trail for hiking with a big heavy pack. Not a trail you would want to descend and probably not a good choice in wet conditions either. Hope this helps.

I've done huntington twice, both times it was a smooth hike. I know a lot of people say it's very tough, and I guess it is but if you go a good day and be carefull in spots you will be fine.
Great day

did it yesterday with a group of 7. dumb me carried a 60 pound stupid backpack and it was hard for me to grab a handle and stand still on the 45 degree granite.
sometimes we missed the trail and has to move across the granite to the trail, which was REALLY dangerous!
However yesterday wheather was great and we met about 15 people who were also doing this trip.
My tips: stay in the trail, have some upper body muscle to pull yourself up. You should be fine. But remember it's like rock climbing, it's dangerous.
You can see the pictures here:http://hiking.meetup.com/305/photos/?photoAlbumId=220662
Best!
