I just wondered if any of you guys new about this site, and how you felt about it.

It seems some people on other forums seem to prefer it in that they don't have to jump around from page to page to get the info they are looking for. I will always prefer the MWO site myself. I wonder if they have permission to do this or if they even need it? It seems to me to be plagiarism of some sort.

I'm not going anywhere either, but is this legal? Can they just take that info and use it for their own benefit?

I think a big fan and member of the Observatory created this site.

I'm not sure whether or not this is legal, but I'm certain its not malicious. And considering MWO is non-profit I suppose any way to get their name out is a benefit.

Actually, I got authorization from Scott Henley over a year ago to make sure it would be okay to use links/pics/etc from the MWO website and he ok'd it. And yes, I am a HUGE fan of the observatory and have been a member since 1984.

Thanks for the update Rob.

Its clearly an important site as many find it a useful place to grab all the MWO data in one spot.

This is the first time I have seen this page and I must say I like it. It's a great place for quick information. Nothing can take the place of this site though. ;)

My apologies to Rob. It's the first time I've come across this site, and I had to stop and think. Was someone ripping off the Obs? I asked my questions and got my answers and now that I know the background I am certainly OK with it. I didn't mean to ostracize any Obs supporters, I was just looking out for the Obs.

Rob, thanks for the clarification. A suggestion might be to actually say on that MWO oriented page - "permission granted by MWO" or something like that that Scot agrees to. Then this same question will not come up again.

Hey Brad,
Thanks for the tip. Currently I have "Courtesy of Mount Washington Observatory" with a link back to the obs. Do u think this is enough??
