I left my house in Dartmouth Ma. @ 2:30 am and arrived at the trail head parking lot @ 6:30 I was suprised to see so many cars there already. It was 48 degrees when I started up. I got to the Gem pool @ 7:30 and it was just beautiful and the trail to get there was in great shape and fairly easy so far.

Well that all changed as the book says it gets steep and yup it did right from the start. The views and the waterfalls were amazing I just wished my wife was there with me to see.

I arrived at the Lake of the Clouds hut @ 9:00 and the views from here were absolutly fantastic the day was great. There were alot of flies here so I ate a quick sandwich and headed for the summit.

Getting to the summit was a little tiring jumping from stone to stone. There was alot of hikers out both going up and down. There were a few workers caring heavy packs with boxes going up and it was amazing how they were moving right along with no hesitation of course they were about 20 years younger than me. I arrived at the summit @ 11:00 and it was a beautifully clear day. After I took a few pics and had a bite to eat I headed down the Gulfside trail to the Jewell trail.

I meet alot of nice people on there way up and I even saw two teenagers with no shoes (OUCH). The views were great . I had no problems at all the trail is in excellent shape all the way back to the parking lot.

There were a few bugs but unless you stopped it was fine. The only problems I had were my left knee really started bothering me on the way down. I have to go get a brace today. I arrived back at the parking lot near the Cog Station @ 3:12 pm. All in all it was a absolutly beautiful day to hike and now I can't wait for Seek the Peak to get here. You can see some more pics here.
