This little girl showed up for her evening meal just as dusk was approaching tonight. For a change I happened to have my camera out on the deck with me. Tough to catch her in the low light while she's flitting around but she actually took a break and sat on a branch long enough for one good shot. Hope she's back for breakfast (and brings her boyfriend with her)...

Look at her standing on that branch! What a lazy thing!! :p
What kind of bush is that? It's got beautiful flowers and would be obviously attractive to hummingbirds.
We've had good luck with Bee Balm.

Nice! I really like the third image. That's very difficult to capture.

It's a honeysuckle. There's a big trumpet vine on the other side of the deck as well. Both of them bloom for most of the summer and it seems to be hummingbird heaven.

We have a number of hummers that visit every day but this one female has totally different habits from all the others. She regularly stops and sits on a branch like she was doing here. Doesn't really seem to be resting - just kind of sitting, looking around and enjoying the scenery. She also chirps and chitters the entire time she's flitting around the flowers and feeding. Never heard another hummer make any kind of noise but she does it all the time. Makes it easier to know when she's around as she always announces her arrival.

Does she chase the others away? We have one very aggressive female who absolutely will not allow anyone else on the flowers.

I've never seen her chase the others away, but most of the time she shows up when the others aren't there. Maybe she's warned them in advance
