from the page:

Taken in 1870 at Mt. Washington, New Hampshire. Description from UFO Casebook: "This photo is dubbed, "the oldest UFO photograph ever taken." This item was the subject of bidding at Ebay in 2002, when finally the photo was purchased for $385.00 by Samuel M. Sherman, who was the president of Independent-International Pictures Corp. This was originally a "stereo" photograph. Certainly it was difficult to manipulate photos at that time, and remember, there were no flying objects then; at least, not from this world."

Interesting. Though of course, that could be anything, really.

Is that supposed to be MT Washington in the background? Perhaps it's the poor quality of the photo, but it looks to me as if the background is ice crystals on the lens.

Or is it the clouds with a zepplin flying by? But that wouldn't be in 1870.

It also looks like an aerial shot of the summit with a long building, but again, not in 1870 (no airplanes)

It looks like something laying on rime ice. It doesn't look like clouds to me. I so wanted to believe!:)

A minor, non-substantive correction: hot air balloons have been flying for centuries (from this world).

As we saw in the TV series "Revolution" John Adams watched a hot air balloon go up while he was in Paris.

I didn't say hot air ballloons. I know they were around. But do you honestly think anyone would launch a hot air balloon over Mt Washington? They'd end up landing in Paris!

My comment was directed at the description from the page itself: "there were no flying objects then; at least, not from this world." I do not question your knowledge of Zeppelin.

It's a broken cigar lying on a mound of artistically sculpted mashed potatoes.

No you can't, because we all know it'd be the Yeti due to the snow...

I can't recognize anything that even looks like Mount Washington. Let alone a UFO.

Is that really supposed to be a photo? Looks more like a drawing.

Or Led Zeppelin for that matter.:) It is either a Zeppelin in front of clouds or like Kevin said, something stuck to rime ice.

Perhaps it's not Mt. Washington at all. Maybe it's Mt. Ararat and w're looking at Noahs' Ark?.....Riiiiight!...What's a cubit?

Wasn't that a creature with a large funky nose that danced up and down on a ziggurat while evading snakes, pigs and gremlins?

Wow! Someone old enough to remember Bill Cosby before he was a cartoon character or a TV dad! :)

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! Two mosquitoes (male & female), tell the rabbits-only 2, only 2! Two hippos, gotta take one out, you got 2 males down there and you need a female- I'm not takin' nothin' out, you change one of them!

Do you also remember his $75 dollar car-Captain America? He had money left over only to buy enough sandbags to put on the right side of the trunk, so when he hit snow or ice the car would raise up on that one side? Incredible stuff. I wore the LP "Why Is There Air?" right into the ground.
