There are different formats.

Degrees, minutes, seconds

or

Degrees, decimal degrees.

Are two popular formats.

Minutes and seconds are a little old fashioned, I prefer to use decimals.

Wikipedia gives them as "44°16′14.98″N 71°18′12.54″W". Whether or not that's accurate, I don't know. :)

Unless you are coming from Toronto. Then it is south and east.

Oooo! Mary, since you geocache this one is easy. The Obs deck webcam is on the geocache.com site listed as a Cam Cache. The cam is actually in the tower, I believe, so it might be 100-200 feet off the USGS official summit mark. But then again, there is a survey mark on the top of the tower, so if you count that, it'll be spot on.

Sounds like you might be doing the DeLorme challenge?
More than likely, your GPSr would read, N 44° 16.242 W 071° 18.253 while standing on the top of Mt. Washington.

Depends on how you have the coords set. Where in CT are you?
