Two cow moose at sunrise in a meadow are about to spar over a bull who is nearby. The rutting season is here...

The sparring was more like a dance. It was a beautiful thing in the soft morning light...

The bull trotted off toward another meadow and the larger cow followed and I follwed the cow toward the Swift River. I slowly circled around a big stand of thick spruce as the cow browsed along. I accidentally got into her path and I had to say hello just before she bumped into me.

She crossed the river and headed toward the other meadow...

Sure enough, the bull was in the meadow but he didn't look very interested in her...

Lovely, as always.

Poor moose got rejected by the stud, eh? After all that work driving the other girl away? Brings back some memories from my teenage years...

I am always amazed by your photos, and by your ability to get so close (and to stay safe!)

Thanks for bringing such intimate pictures to those of us who do not have your gift.

Those are awesome as always!! I can't believe you climbed a tree to get that picture!! LOL Beautiful shot though!!

Do you capture all of those shots in one day?

Bear Notch Road is one of my favorite to travel to just enjoy the surroundings.

Mooses dancing with mooses. Awesome!!! The vistas to the Presedentials are just beautiful. And of course if the summit doesn't provide a view what else is there to do but climb a tree? :rolleyes:

No, they are just fighting to get into his book, they just know that to be photgraphed by Patrick is sure stardom.

Wow...you just have a way of capturing the wildlife around these mountains in such a dramatic way, yet still keeping an emotional connection to the subject.

I love the shot of the bull. Clean, sharp and overall fantastic.

The gray jay shot...just wow!
