most of it come from? What I'm asking is does it come from the southern area(my direction-Arkansas/Gulf of Mexico) or does it come from the eastern flow during a Nor'easter?
If it comes fromthe southern direction? I'm warning you guys now....sending some very wet air in your direction right now!

The summit gets snow from two main directions, or storm tracks. The southern/Noreaster track, and the NW clipper track.

While the NE'r track brings heavier snow at once, I think cumulatively over the entire winter, more probably comes from the NW, especially once you consider upslope snow after the storms pass...

B0000 on the rain this time of year...

Actually I enjoy rain during winter.....no shovelling involved!

Next question: How much snow is average for the summit during 1900-1950 and then from 1950-2000? Is there enough of a decrease to jump on the "global warming" bandwagon?

I don't think there is a record for many of those years in the early 1900's.

Many of the snowiest winters on record have occurred within the past decade in New England.

Also, global warming does not mean less snow for New England. Its likely to be quite the contrary actually.

you took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to say the same thing. Global Warming doesnt mean less snow, actually the snow may increase with global warming. Sometimes I get all worked up over when people tell me that while I am a snow lover, your going to get less snow now that we are in in Global Warming trend.
Good job bill!!!!:)

The number of 100*+ days down here have been on the increase.....but the winters are shifting to before Christmas and after mid-January? Haven't had a lot of snow here in years.....but I remember those during my chldhood in southern Maine!
Never wrote many weather observations in my journals, just the partying, hiking, and general bumming around at the beach. Wish I would have kept more detailed writtings?

I completely agree with more snow/cold weather on the global-warming alarmist....got to have some kind of "fear for the masses" in order to keep the fund raising going! Without gloabal warming, what would Al Gore have to say?

Hmmm, I looked at the subject of this thread and thought the answer was "down".

All right, you have got me on that one.......:)

YES, snow falls down! But from which prevailing direction from whence it should blow in from? Is that better?
