Not sure if any of y'all ever go to Marshalls and TJ Max (if they have them where you live), but at both places I've been finding some awesome North Face and Patagonia base layers recently. Got a Patagonia capeline crew neck for $20, North Face expedition Long underwear, $25, and a NF mid weight zip top for $29

Also see a lot of cloudveil and a few marmot jackets there as well as NF beanies and gloves.

All mint condition, no seconds and all way less than half price!!

Another good place would be a premium outlet mall like Woodbury Common at the northern tip of bear mountain/harriman state park.

They have factory stores in the mall from companies like Nike, TNF, Adidas, Underamour, etc. A $300 gore-tex northface shell can often be had for $120-150. The north face store also has sleeping bags and the last time I checked, a $900 full body down mountaineering suit for $500.

I spent about $80 on 4 base layers that would've been around $200 retail.

That is right on the drive-by heading to MW. Might have to time the drive to get a stop to check the place out.

Believe it or not, I once picked up two pairs of heavy duty climbing pants made by Royal Robbins in ROSS of all places. How they got there, I'll never know. Couldn't find any defects on them either. The pants wore great, long lasting but the pockets insides were whimpy and wore holes fast. If they only used the same material for the pockets....

I recently bought a pair of Columbia Gore-Tex rain pants at Marshalls for $20, and noticed they also a bunch of Marmot Precip jackets for around $30...plus they now have these 'expedition' weight socks that are really thick wool for only $6

If anyone has an Oshmans Sporting good store in their local mall, they have great winter outerwear on sale around Feb and March. That is the only time of year I buy anything clothing wise. They have a wide variety of brands too.
