Looks like they are enjoying their feast. We fed the deer over one winter when we lived in NY. They loved the corn and the whole herd was there. the next spring we saw we needed to redo the whole lawn - or what was left of the yard.

We have only a few yards of grass behind the house, the rest is wooded. As long as the stay in the back yard, I don't care. I always throw out the bird food in the same area, so that area is always bare dirt anyway. The moles are more of a headache out in the front yard than anything else.

Nothing is worse than watching the squirrels swinging from your bird feeder eating all your feed and some of the feeder itself.:(

Nice picture Mark!

My parents bought one of those bird feeders that spins if a squirrel is on it...it actually works sometimes. real funny to watch a squirrel go flying off the thing!

You can't mean these cute little guys

This one is polishing off the bird seed after he dumped it all out of the feeder

Sometimes when the squirrels are doing there thing in the back yard and on the feeder I carefully open the back door and send my dog Grace after them. It is funny to watch them scramble as she tries to get them. She has never caught one and I don't think she really wants to either. She just likes chasing them.

Sure looks like he's related. He definitely has that same expression on his face...

That reminded me of this:

The best part is the little sled, he's even pushing to make it go faster.

That's great. I like the one robbing the vending machine.

I remember seeing that first clip on TV, it must have been 20 years ago. Some great footage there. My late Dad had a running battle of wits with some squirrels vs the bird feeders. Some warm memories.

Looks like that feeder is just made for him :D

What kind of squirrel is that? Doesn't look like the gray squirrels that hang out in our yard. Had one that looked like this living in our shed last spring and I wasn't sure it was even a squirrel with those huge eyes.

These are the nocturnal Southern Flying Squirrel Glaucomys volans I used to take the kids out with flashlights and we'd watch them "fly" from the 60' pine tree in the front yard all the way to the feeders in the back yard. Amazing creatures.

If you had one, you had a dozen! ;) Just like mice.

Interesting! I wondered if they might be some kind of flying squirrel since they seemed to have the extra bit of baggy skin on their sides (in your picture). I probably do have more. We have a bunch of mice that live in the shed every winter (and a few in the house unfortunately). When I was out in the shed last spring I thought I heard the mice scurrying around in the eaves and got up on a stepladder to check it out. When I peeked in I was staring right into the huge eyes that show up so well in your pics. We scared the crap out of each other! Haven't seen him or any of his kin since though. Now I want to hang out in the shed more often and see if they're back...

Here is one of my furry friends standing on my fence. Took his picture from inside the house since that fence post is right outside the window.
