We drove up the auto road a day or two after stp08 and got a tour for my wife and daughter of the obs. On the way down we stopped to get some pictures. I took this with my Canon G9 by setting it on a rock and using the timer. I had to lighten it up a little but not much. Our next vacation is this STP and I am sure we will be up there again but this time I will have my 5D Mark2:D. Oh it makes me want to be there again.

Very nice with Rt.16 in the background, you get the sense of the elevation.

Chris, you have a lovely family!

By the way, when I read the title of your thread, I thought you meant there was a family on the auto road TODAY.

Nice pic, especially with a 4 billion-year-old "tripod." :D

Thank you for the compliments. Thanks Trish but this is only part of my family. I have an older daughter which is the mom of my Granddaughter and a son in the marines.Yes Mark the tripod was very sturdy :D.

Who needs a 5D when you can get this with a G9? OK, so the time and place may have helped a bit too. Seriously, great shot and I'm sure a great memory. These are definitely the best. Hopefully we all get to make a few of these at STP this year.

I think that is one picture you will revisit often over the years.
