with great respect for mountaineers,& respect to the mt hood men,I speak fromboth sides..as the RN you meet in the ER, & the hiker. PLEASE...take care, register, bring supplies beyond what u think u need, & sign in, sign with SOMEONE...thanksgiving was easy hiking..no snow..champney falls one of last quick hikes of weekend,little ice til near summit(?), gives false confidence, as I learned at top with a sore/twisted knee, and a long DOWN hike.I'm embarassed to admit it, I knew better, but the warm weather lured us..so much for experience!!.Be careful folks..have safe fun..bridey

Sometimes you plan perfectly and things don't go right; a sprained ankle or unforecasted rain, for example. I've learned it's always okay to turn around should the unexpected happen. It sounds like common sense, but the desire to press on can be very strong.
