Nice little animation (Quicktime movie) of the process to climbing Everest on the south side.

For those that don't follow, the Chinese government is still up in the air on whether they are going to open the North side this year. Since the climbing season starts next month, I'm sure lots of expeditions have made other plans.

That is pretty correct in my opinion.... lots of up and down.. sleeping out storms... and MAYBE a summit bid..... :D

I didn't know the technology existed to make such a dynamic, pro-active, virtual reality experience

I felt more like I was on Mount Everest watching that animation than when I was actually on Mount Everest.

Wow! Beautiful photos Bill. Someday I WILL get over there, just to see and touch the mountain must be breathtaking.

I've been studying and reading about the history of Tibet/Nepal as well. Would love to just do a tour of the temples.

Well, I still like the animated thingie. Just gives one an immediate idea of the ups and downs involved. And I like the little star that appears when the dot reaches the summit.

Bill, your pictures are gorgeous.

I'm an Everest junkie as well.....I wish I was at home so I could watch thise animations :)

I've love to see Everest, I'd like to be able to get to at least ABC, but I know I can't do further.

Been watching the Podcast "The Rest of Everest" while at the gym....it's inspiration

Awesome! How far are you in the series? Jon, the producer is a great guy. He's taking a handful of viewers to Nepal and basecamp in April.

Such a well done series. I was never the slightest bit interested in visiting Tibet or Nepal until watching his podcast. The second series of shows where he goes back just to tour with his friend is just as good.

The mountain itself doesn't daunt me, it's the costs to get there and then to climb it! I hear the costs keep going up every year, like Rolex watches :D

Jon's great. I've emailed him back and forth several times. He's also on my friends list on FB. If you are able to, kick him $25 and he'll give you a link to another podcast feed to get the full movie and some episodes in HD. It helps him cover the bandwidth.

I bought a shirt from him (you'll learn about in later episodes) and routinely send him pics from various hikes with my RoE shirt on. And in fact, in one episode you'll see a mention of me and Seek the Peak in the intro!

Here's the pic I sent him from StP 08 with said shirt.

Incredible photos Bill. This is one of my top dream locations (not sure I'll ever be able to afford it but nice to dream). How long was the trek (days)? Was this with a guide service?

Alas!! Episiodes 20-40 will not work on my iPod!

At least I can watch them at home, hahaha.

Need other fun stuff to watch at the gym, besides old Simpsons episodes, haha.

here's a new favorite.. they only have a few episodes out now and they are short, but worth the download.

I think it was 12 days or so of trekking. I think we had some extra days built in for weather but we didn't need them. Which allowed us to get some sweating and a lot of sleeping in Bangkok.

We used REI Adventures.
