Took these on the 14th but figured some of you may enjoy my hiking skills :)

I went over to Brattleboro, VT to the Harris Hill Ski Jump competition.

Here's hiking up to the jump

The view from the start at the top of the tower

And what a succesful jump looks like (pretty steep terrain I was standing on with all of my camera gear. Must remember to bring my ice grippers or get something with screws in the bottom for the next time I shoot an event like this)

Great stuff as always Kirk!

Didn't notice the skier in the last one at first, but the timing was great! Amazing how much the skis bend on the landing.

They come down the hill at 60mph. There's a lot of force going into those skies on the landing. The "slap" is really loud too when they hit.

Kirk,

You have done some wonderful panos (like the Russian monastery) but the 3rd shot in this set is by far the best you have done. Getting the jumper as he comes on down is fantastic.

We need you to do the same at the water ski school for the jumpers there. I will send a link on to April for that!

Hmmmm... I'm thinking a special pano at the summit with StP hikers all gathered around in a circle. :)

I'd shoot that :)

I was thinking about doing STP this year, but after climbing the stairs on the ski jump, and then decending the stairs, my knees can't take it :(

Just follow me, Brad and the others all in the Bad Knee Club!

Wow, well done. Great images.

Looking down the jump all I can think is "never in a million years."

Yeah exactly! I didn't want to slip and ride down the jump on my stomach like a penguin :)

BTW: the jumpers are men & women ages 15-18 (mostly). Insane!

Kirk, you need to get some Kahtoola MicroSpikes to deal with traction control.

I'd shoot that :)

I think we'd give you special dispensation and let you take alternate transportation to the summit if you'll do the suggested pano :)
