I know it refreshes occasionally, every 15 minutes I believe, but where are they stored after the picture refreshes? I am planning on hiking this week and I would like to try to get on the cam. Will I be able to find my shot from the webcam from the website somewhere?
Thanks!
All the MWO web camera images update every 15 minutes on the quarter hour. So, set your watch and stand on the deck 2 mins before and wait for 4 mins and you should be snagged. The Observatory does not save the images - so, I do. Assuming everything is working right I have a computer that grabs the images when they change and sends to a photo web site I set up.
An easy way of checking out the new images is to go to http://whatsnew.fotki.com/MWO/

Brad, Have there been any particularly funny images from the deck cam that you remember? People doing handstands or holding up some kind of sign?
There have been all sorts of signs. But, normally they are too small or too far away to be able to read them.
The best was;

Let us know which day you are going and I will double check to make sure things are working through the day.

We did have a fire breathing dragon show up one day in the North camera image. It was real scary.
The moose that was wandering around the summit one day I think was caught by the West camera.

Did we ever find out who the artist of this was?

What do you mean by artist? This was an image captured by the webcam, was it not??
Maybe God could be considered the artist. Where else do scary dragons come from? If you check that day's images in the archive you can see that the dragon was in the camera's view every once in a while as it roamed around the summit.

That must be the same moose that left a lot of moose poop right on the summit of Chocorua couple of years ago in winter when I was up there.
Kathy,
That is great. I went to the image archives and pulled the full sized file to save it.
For reference it is

Sorry about your thread getting hijacked - but that is the way it goes around here. Blame it on BlueDog.

Well if I make it up there tomorrow there will hopefully be a clear, giant RPI sign in honor of my alma mater. Although with the weather we've had these past days, I don't know if I'll be able to hold it up! Haha
Have a great day! If the sign does not work, stamp out "RPI" in the snow on the deck and then run for cover.

Darn, I should have thought of that.
Anyways, I was caught on it, and thats all the mattered to me. Unfortunately, it caught me while I was kneeling on the deck trying to get a hold of the sign before it took off like a kite (It was 3x4 feet).
Here is it, and thanks again for saving these pics, it was an excellent, but freezing day:

Glad you got caught at least that much. You sure had a good day. How about a report on conditions and how the day was like for you - and pictures?

Yea I have nearly 50 pictures and plenty of stuff to mention in a trip report. I'll try to get it on here tomorrow.
