View Full Version : Tornado question?

Has there ever been a confirmed tornado on the summit/near the summit(within 1/2mile)? I've looked around the internet, but came up empty handed... and thought maybe someone here hasalready found an answer to this silly question.
Scott (it could've happened) B
We have had a tornado hit in Harrison, Maine back in the mid '70's I think. Several years ago on 4th of July evening we had water spouts go across Long Lake in Maine from Bridgton to Harrison.
Not within your close to the summit question. But, if it could happen an hour away, it could happen ...

The likelyhood of a tornado being recorded is very rare, if you had the perfect conditions, ( clear skies at MWN and 70+ mile visibility) you may see a tornado as you do on the central plains, but since a majority of Northeast tornadoes are rain wrapped and not super cell, the likelyhood that Mt Washington would be in the clear is slim to none.

Did you check with NWS out of Gray, ME? If anyone would have a record of it, you would think they would.:)
