Anyone taken a quick hike into Arethusa Falls lately? Plan on going up tomorrow and doing the loop with Frankenstein Cliff. Haven't done Frankenstein yet, but have doen Arethusa in the winter and in summer. Just looking to see how trail conditions are (muddy?) and if the falls are running pretty heavy. Any imput would be appreciated! Thanks!

I happened to have just hiked in to Arethusa Falls last weekend with a couple of friends visiting from PA. We went in via the Ripley-Arethusa Falls Trail, which is the longer approach. Trails were a little muddy in spots, but not too bad. There were still a few patches of snow as well, but those are likely gone by now. Both falls were VERY impressive and I am sure that they still are.

I would highly recommend taking this approach if you are up for a longer hike (about 3 miles one way). Ripley Falls is really neat although I have to warn you that the stream crossing at Ripley Falls was not easy.

Here is a picture of Ripley Falls from that trip:

And here's Arethusa:

Thanks for the update. I'll look into doing that trail, although I think we'll do Bemis (think it is) and take Frankenstein from there. Although you never know! I'm hiking with a great "wanderer"!

Brian,

Your Arethusa picture is awesome. What really makes it is to have the person in it to show the height.

Nice pictures Brian. The others in the Facebook album are great too. I've never actually seen a shot of Arethusa from the top looking over. That's quite an angle. Don't know why we've never hiked to the top when we've been there.

Thanks Brad....I agree, it definitely gives it some scale and that's why that's my favorite picture of the falls from that weekend.

Thanks! There's no real trail going to the top, so that may be why you haven't gone up there. It was a bit rough and steep at times getting up there, but definitely worth it.
