Hi all, I am a first year member of MWO and a brand new member of these forums. I am excited there is a place to communicate and share with others with the same interests. Now my question... will there be a low temp. contest for February since I missed the one for January?

My vote is yes. And my guess for February is the same - minus 32.

I'm going to stick with my January guess. -24

I'll toss up one more prize for February, but maybe we should change things up a little. I'm open for suggestion.

Wait just a minute. We aren't starting the contest just yet. I'll start a whole new thread when we do. We are just looking for some suggestions on the contest now. Should we do something different, modify the current contest?

I say we do the lowest windchill effect temperature. This adds another factor into the equation

You go ahead and have your own little windchill contest then, let us know who wins.:p :D ;)

Robo I can understand your frustration of being out of the Jan low temp contest mid month :)

A wind chill contest would be a good one...even more difficult to predict!!!

The problem with windchill is its not official. Nobody records windchill, it doesn't go into any forms and its not archived. Windchill is just a feeling, its not real. In fact, the entire windchill chart was revised a few years ago.

I'll setup another contest for February tomorrow. That will give people 7 days to get their guess in. Forecasting could come into play here because the coldest air of the season is progged to come in the first week of February.

That sounds good to me, thanks!

Sounds good, make it up and we are guaranteed to have fun with it. With regards to the windchill factor, you mention that no one records it and it is just a feeling, which I understand. But it is on most every weather page on this site. Just an observation

That's right, its just on the website. It doesn't get recorded into Mount Washington's climate record and it never gets sent to the National Weather Service.
