Hi folks!

Some friends and I are planning on hiking the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail to the peak later this month. The plan is to find a campsite near the trail head and head up in the morning to complete the trip as a day hike.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend an place we can "car camp" near the trail head to make our morning start as quick as possible?

Thanks!

Three are nearby...I've had good experiences with the ammonoosuc campground:

Others have had good things to say about Living Waters:

The WMNF also runs the Zealand campground nearby.

Hope that helps!

We usually stay at Dry River if we want an early start in Crawford Notch.

Would suggest Dry River as well. Zealand CG is a choice, but you're right on Rte. 302 and the traffic can be annoying. Dry River has the same problem. If you go further up Zealand Rd. the Sugarloaf CG's are far enough from the road so it isn't an issue. $18.00 a night, flush toilets at Sugarloaf 1, and there is a lot of good hiking right from camp. If you go be sure to climb the Sugarloafs. Great views of the Presidential Range from there.
