I just love birch glades with fern/hobblebush understory. There's usually lots of moose sign...

Perfect Fall photos if ever I've seen them. Love the caterpillar and the birches. The moose are great as always.

I think that the caterpillar will be a Spotted Tussock Moth. We saw these guys munching on leaves all over in Maine last weekend. I'd never seen them before - they're like a creative mix of wooly bear and bumblebee. :D
