Hi, I'm working on a New England wildlife (as in non-human/vehicle) viewing guide and am finishing up an entry for the Presidential Range. I'd be interested in any sightings of note people have had on the mountain and trails - so far have rock vole, American pipit, a couple of butterflies, wandering moose, bears, foxes on the auto road, and some of the birds at different elevations (have also heard of the summit cat).

Thanks, John

You nailed most of the big ones. I've seen three species of squirrel on the summit.

The glaring ommission is the great pine martin habitat in the boreal regions. They frequently visit the lower huts and shelters...

I must chime in on behalf of the porcupine that visited us when staying at Crag Camp, the old one that is. Quite a quizzical sight. I heard in the past they were common at some of the Huts as well.

That's the funniest, most random thing I've ever seen...

10 days or so ago, there was a buzz "in the neighborhood" about a skunk patrolling MW summit.

Anyone in the OBS have light to shed on that?
