I searched the FAQs section of this Forum and did not find an answer to my question which is as follows.

When creating a new thread, I sometimes cut & paste text that I have created in word-processing software such as MS-WORD. When I do this, why do my apostrophes and quotation marks show up as question marks? Is there something I can do to make this NOT happen?

Because you have MSWord set to convert all quote marks to Smart Quotes. These marks are not character recognized in the web standards. Sometimes if you copy from word, paste into TextPad or NotePad first, that will change it to standard txt, then copy/paste that into the message box.

One HUGE "thank you" to you! I've made the change you suggested. And, please note that there are no question marks for either the quotation marks or the apostrophes in the preceding sentences which were cut & pasted from MS-WORD!!

Another easy way to do this is to compose your TRs in Word, then save the file as plain text. Open the file back up, and copy all the text you want.

If you do alot of copying and pasting, you may want to try using this free program. It's a clipboard memory stacker. Looks just like Outlook. I have been using it for years, and I don't think I could be on a computer without it. http://www.intelexual.com/products/YC3/

Oh my! It looks like I owe yet another HUGE thank you!

Thanks Bob for the tip, and for the link. Trust me, I'll definitely give that YC3 Freeware a try. I can think of a few other uses for it right away!!
