Just a warning for anyone planning on heading up to the summit or attempting to. Starting thursday into the weekend, there are going to be white out or near white out conditions and wind chills that well I would say be down to near -35 or so. anyone want to help me out on this one?
any ideas what the wind chill could be Thur night or Friday morning?

Either way just a warning to be properly prepared;)

Yeah, its gonna be a lot colder than that. Temps are going to bottom out around -30F so windchills are going to be off the charts. Unless your chart goes to -100F, then you'd be okay.

-24F at Saranac Lake this morning, and that was at 5 am. Ideal radiational cooling set up and allowed their temps to drop like a rock. Meanwhile, the summit is checking in at around -6F.

Wow - 22 already with a - 63 wind chill! Man tomorrow is going to be insanely cold up there if its already that cold already. How low does the wind chill meter go in the observatory? lol

Bill or anyone who can answer this question.
Is there somewhere on here or elsewhere, where you can find the max and min wind chill for a 24 or 12 hour period?
If so, please let me know
Thanks
Bill,
I recall you said that the WC doesnt get recorded into the Mt Washington climate records and it doesnt get sent to the NWS either.
that is why I am wondering if there is anywhere or anyone who does record it. If worse come to worse I can just take the highest wind speed and convert it to what wind chill it would be I suppose

Well, like we have been discussing...there is no windchill meter on Mount Washington. It's just a math calculation using temperature and wind, go figure.

I don't know of anyplace that records the minimum windchill on the website. I think Brad has a Fotki page that grabs the current conditions from the website and archives them as photos. You can search through those and you'll get your answer.

Bill,

Yes, the Conditions image gets stored at http://public.fotki.com/MWO/current/conditions/ throughout the day. Then normally once a day I move these images to an archive album at http://public.fotki.com/MWO/saved/2007/conditions_archive/ . There another one for 2006 images.

If you have a fast Internet connection you can spin through them pretty quickly or review them from the thumbnails. Right now the 5:30 AM Conditions image says wind chill is -77.

I went back to the 158MPH day in October. The wind was high, but the temp was 14 degrees. So, the wind chill was not low then.
