As a fellow member of the MWO hiking community stated on a previous thread: that occasionally one needs to do an ?emergency hike?; well that?s exactly what our hike to Lonesome Lake was to be for us. After getting up at 4 am and driving 9 ? hours to Franconia Notch, New Hampshire, we needed to stretch our legs a bit and this mile and a half hike ?filled the bill?. The forecast for Saturday 10/24 did not look promising for our scheduled hike with fellow AMC members to the summit of Mount Cabot; otherwise we would probably have skipped this hike.
The temperature at 3 pm was around 50 degrees with little wind and we completed our leisurely hike before dark. Here are a few of our photos:

Can't think of a better way to stretch you legs after all that time in the car - particularly on a day with the killer views of Franconia Ridge across the lake. A great "emergency hike indeed". Hope the rest of the weekend turned out well too Donna. Perhaps we'll be hearing more soon? :)

Very nice pictures. Often times the shorter hikes turn out to be the best. Thanks for sharing!
