I know many of our forum members are cat lovers. So why not post some pictures of your favorite felines.I'll start with introducing you to two of my largest feline friends.First meet Kya:

381

And now her sister Taj:

382

They live at the Southwick Zoo and are now two years old.Just like our own feline friends sometimes they just like to snuggle up to each other:

383

Hope you've enjoyed meeting my friends. Now I'd like to meet all of yours.(I'm sure Marty will too;))

Great pics Bob and Mark. Here are some of our four-legged children. The first two pictures are of our girl Spicy. She looks like and angel;but when she's knocking everything she can get her paws on off our shelves at 2AM she definitely has an alter ego!!
So here's Spicy:

384

Look at this sweet little face:

385

Now here is her sister Madu.We took in both of them as strays when they were only 8 weeks old. They're 5 now.

386

This next picture is of our oldest little girl Clyde. We thought she was a boy when we took her in as a stray nine years ago and the name stuck. She likes to jump into the dryer when I'm folding laundry.

387

Our best hiking buddy is our fluffly Pembroke Welsh Corgi Nigel. He also herds the cats and breaks up any squabbles they have.

388

When he's not off climbing mountains with Mom and Dad he can be found relaxing at home.

389

And last but not least some pictures of Marty from our visit to the summit this August.
Marty just being Marty:

390

Gary and I got to play with him with one of the toys we brought up for him:

391

What a beautiful boy!!

392

Hope you enjoyed meeting some of our animals:D

All are great looking cats, this is Gracie Mae, I got her at the local shelter when she was between 3 and 4 years old and I've had her for almost 6 years, what a great animal. She is great around the house, doesn't bother anything, claws on her scratch pad when she needs to and gets into bed when I do and gets up when I do, none of the usual nighttime hijinks that you get from most cats as they are usually known as nighttime creatures.

Thanks Bob, she is extremely calm, probably why she weighs 16 pounds LOL. She's not calm though if she sees another cat in the yard, she goes crazy, obviously doesn't want another cat near her house, it's the only thing that sets her off. The only bad thing about that is I can't adopt a second cat if I want to. One more pic of Gracie Mae......400

Thank you Anna, yes, that last pic is funny, I kept telling her not to look at me when I got out of the shower but you know how you can't tell a cat what to do, I just knew that would be her response. LOL I really never had a cat that didn't explore and play during the night, but she is the absolute best, sleeps in bed with me right through the night and 99% of the time, she don't get up until I do, not a typical cat in that aspect.

That's a shame you lost a lot of your photos. You may want to consider backing up your new photos, and any other irreplaceable files to a flash drive, CD, DVD, or external hard drive. The flash drives are really cheap and very easy to backup your files to. I store my drives in a fireproof safe in case of a house fire. The refrigerator works great too. Most times, the contents of a refrig are unaffected by the heat of a house fire. Avoid storing them in the freezer though, that's too cold of an environment.

You can never have too many copies. An external hard drive is good protection against a primary hard drive crash as is burning to CD/DVD (which you can also keep off-site copies of). With the cost of online storage though that's really the best bet these days. If you use an online photo sharing service and put everything there you get the double benefit of sharing your pics and having a backup as well. Google just dropped the price of the additional storage for Picasa (and gmail, docs, etc) to $5/yr for 20G which is more than enough to hold most peoples complete photo archive at full resolution. Many of the other paid photo sharing sites have no user storage limits so those are options too. Protect those pics!

I found some more pictures that I thought you might enjoy. The first few are of two of our beloved cats that have crossed over the rainbow bridge and I'm sure are happily playing with Nin.:)
The first two are of our beautiful pure white girl Mabel who we lost to kidney disease almost two years ago now:

401

402

The next one is of Mabel with one of our current cats Madu:

403

Mabel's best friend in all the world was our buff and white little boy Cinnamon who you'll see with her in the next picture. He developed cancer and passed away within months of her.He was heartbroken without her:

404

Cinnamon was quite the talker and would greet everyone who came into the house.

405

406

Now we have some photos of our two sisters Spicy and Madu that you've met in previous pictures:

Spicy always looks like such an angel when she's sleeping:rolleyes:

407

She really is a beautiful little cat:

408

She enjoys hiding from our Corgi Nigel in the tunnel:

409

Here's our little angel saying her prayers before she goes to bed:

410

Every once in a while Spicy and here sister Madu will show us how much they love each other:

411

Madu loves to lay on the floor and be nice and warm in the sun:

412

413

Spicy prefers looking out the window catching a tan:

414

Sometimes the two of them can be seen looking longingly out the window as the birds fly by:

415

We didn't want to leave our best hiking buddy Nigel out of this set of pictures.I found some of his baby pictures. You'll be able to see how small he is in these photos compared to the ones in my hiking with Nigel albums from my user profile site.

Here's the cutest little fluffy Pembroke Welsh Corgi you'll ever see on a 4,000 footer:D

We knew that we would wind up getting a third cat again after we lost Maggie. We hadn't specifically been looking for a Calico but when we went to the shelter Sunday and saw Bella (they called her April) we knew she was the one. Calicos have such a wonderful personality.

She was in the spare bedroom (where our daughter hangs out one the computer) with the door closed yesterday to give her a chance to adjust. Our daughter slept with her last night and today we left the door open so that she could come out if she wanted. She stayed in the bedroom most of the day anyway and did meet both of the other cats (a bit of tame hissing) and Jake (who she hissed at which made him put his ears back and retreat from the big bad kitty). I'm sure that harmony will return within a day or so.

Like you, every calico I've ever met has been absolutely the sweetest little thing on four-paws you'd ever want to meet.

I'm sure after a couple of days everyone will be getting along.Poor Jake;)Nigel herds our cats. It's really funny to see. Some of them don't appreciate it but our youngest male cat Sunny adores him. They cuddle up together and Nigel will lick Sunny's head until he looks like a spitball:D:p

Since I'm on the thread here's a Bella update:

After 9 days at home she is now the complete queen of the house. No more hissing and spitting from anyone. The ultimate test for her acclimation came a couple of nights ago when she was walking across my head at 2am and purring in my ear at the top of her lungs. Oh yea, she's a cat alright...

Mark,

Great to hear Bella has settled in.I know all about those 2AM nights!! Spicy will jump off from sleeping on Mom,start roaming the house getting into trouble and Nigel will be barking his brains out trying to get her to stop being bad.

Has she warmed up to Jake yet?I'd love to see more pictures of all of them. With the holidays coming we should have good photo ops coming up for all the animals.

It's a tossup at our house as to who the queen is.Our calico Aimee is afraid of none of the other cats or Nigel for that matter. She loves to sleep on Mom during the night but so does Spicy. They usually end up duking it out on my stomach in the middle of the night for who gets the most comfortable spot.:D

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. And keep those pictures coming!!!

This is Mojo, our Maine Coon. He was rescued off the roof of a library at about 3 weeks of age. His mom had abandoned him for whatever reason. He's a little small for a male Maine Coon, weighing in at only about 14 pounds.

Mojo has a very curious and fun disposition. Very loyal and lovable, but not a lap cat (as a lot of Coons are). Everything is a toy, including my ankles. He knows he's the Omega but certainly loves it when I get down on the floor with him and fake-attack-play with him.

I have owned Siamese cats my entire life until Mr. Mojo came along and I can say Siamese are certainly enjoyable...but I like the play factor that Mojo and Maine Coons seem to have.

Mojo is an indoor cat, but as a treat we do sit outside with him on the railing once in a great while. The snow pic is one of my favorites...although built for the snow he's not a fan. And the one with his tongue sticking out...just had the camera at the right place and right time.

I suspect that Mr Samwise is a Maine Coon, he certainly exhibits most of the characteristics. He was wandering around in a mountain town when my wife adopted him, To this day he remains a bum. best friends with anyone who will feed him. My vet says that he is about 4-5 years old, I have had him for about 3 years now. He and Miss Kitty are just now starting to accept each other, but then she has never been one to make friendly fast.

She's fully integrated in the family now. Follows me around the house "mroooing" at me constantly and sleeps curled up next to me every night (much to my daughter's dismay). She was reportedly attacking Jake's tail today the way that Maggie used to. Must be a Calico thing. Jake takes it all in stride and seems to love it (as long as he's not being hissed at). Haven't been able to get any new "group pictures" and have resisted more of the initial poses which seem to be her favorites.

They're two really cute cats. That's a nice thing you did to adopt them. Are they getting use to your household?

Yes, they are VERY used to our house. The good thing I guess is they were only in the shelter for a few weeks, and they lived together for the first year of their lives. We didn't know that ahead of time, but couldn't break that bond when we found out. It was about this time a year ago we lost our first cat, our friend, Oscar. It took a while, but what a joy it is to have these two running around. If only I could train them to hike and carry water bottles!!!!!

It's very nice to hear that they are settling in. And it's also nice that you adopted both of them so as not to break the bond between them. My last two cats were brothers that I adopted as kittens, and they spent their whole lives together. Unfortunately, it was inevitable that the bond would be broken one day when one suddenly past away before the other after 11 years of being together. It was very sad :( to watch the remaining one search the house constantly for his brother. It took some time before he returned to his old self.

So sorry for the loss of your friend Oscar. They do become part of our families don't they. The nice thing is that you have the memories of him; and now the joy of having two new cats running around your house. If you ever discover how to train them to hike and carry the water bottles, please let us know so we can do the same.:D

I think it's wonderful that you took in the two of them.We adopted two sisters and a brother from our local shelter. They were our first cats, all white as snow. They have all passed on now.All our present cats are strays that we have taken in as kittens and adults.

More so then other cats I think they really appreciate being saved and show us by the way they behave with us.Not one of them has ever been mean or tried to bite or scratch us on purpose(like alot of cats I've met in the past).
They're all very sweet and lovable.

This is our Blue-point Siamese, he has many names, but officially, it's Thaiphoon, we call him Squish:

http://fishercat.smugmug.com/Other/Our-Guys/117/735467550_RZKbs-M.jpg

This is a kitten we found abandoned in a parking lot near our home. He was only 4 weeks old, but we took him in. His real name is General John Stark, but we called him Pooper, after several experiences when he was young:

http://fishercat.smugmug.com/Other/Our-Guys/107/735467390_KdBp9-M.jpg

And this is Algonquin Baxter Penobscot. He is a pure-bred Maine Coon. He clicks in now at 20.5lbs. The vets down here love him.We call him Nanners. He was only 5 months old at the time of this shot:

http://fishercat.smugmug.com/Other/Our-Guys/116/735467462_bQKHE-M.jpg

We also had two older cats, but unfortunately due to health problems we had one put down in May, and the other in November. So it goes. The Maine Coon has definitely "trained" General John Stark in many of his habits, as they were only seperated by about 4 months.

_____________

Anna

Anna,
General John Stark is now 2yrs, 2mos old. He is definitely our smallest cat, he weighs only about 12lbs., but he is the scrappiest and, with the death of our former pride leader who was a Chocolate-Point Siamese, is now more of the leader himself. They all get along well and Thaiphoon is more of my wife's cat than anyone else is, but we have never witnessed any fits of jealousy, he is very gentle and talkative.
Algonquin is a big "chirper" like most Maine Coons, he also has a tendency to bark, almost like a dog. Our cats are all indoors, but when there is snow we let Nanners out for a little bit and his "snowshoe" imprints are about as big as a small dog. Quite impressive.

Its fun going to the vet and hearing names like General John Stark called out, giving me a chance to explain, and then hearing them trip and fumble over "Alqun...Alguin..uh...how do you say this?"

Kathy,

First, that was a great tradition story you have and I'm glad your Mom is doing better.

Second, when you get a new cat simply situate the litter box where you want it to stay, pick up the cat or kitten and place it in the prefilled litter box. They will go there from then on if they're like all the cats we've ever had.

They are much easier to train then dogs.:D

Mama cat (Mad Mary) is hard to photograph. She likes to hide under the bed. She's a gray-toned tortoise shell. She's got a very serene mien, yet unexpectedly launched herself at Sarah's (my wife) face this weekend. She head-butted Sarah's glasses so hard it drove the nose piece into her nose and opened a nasty gash. Plus her claws opened another small cut on Sarah's forehead. We've since learned that cats can get freaked out by glasses, either due to the glare or the way they magnify the eyes. So I'm not too keen on laying on the floor to try to get a picture of Mad Mary. Although I think I have one of her from a year or two ago with her previous litter.

Yep, here it is. These two yellow tabbies were one of her previous broods. They're still around.

Abby and Ollie are doing fine. No Christmas tree for them this year as we're traveling. When we get back home later this week, the big introduction to our other cats commences. Should be interesting.

You might catch some kitty antics here. It's a cheapo webcam set up in their room.

Here he is in the frozen marshgrass near the river:

In this next photo you get to meet our garage familiy of kitties. They are very camera shy so getting a good photo of them is nearly impossible.

We took in Momma cat-Powderpuff in Jan 2001 as a stray when she was about a year old.April 1,2001 her two sons Jakie and Little Bear were born.

I was very lucky to get this shot of the three of them today.Jakie is on the left,Powderpuff is in the center and Little Bear is on the right. As you can see they look like they are in a state of shock!!!!

When the two sisters Madu and Spicy were just little kittens they always hung around and played together and slept together.

As they got older they seemed to spend very little time together anymore and would even fight for space by the heater.

A couple of nights ago they must have called a truce. When I walked into the bedroom and this is what I saw:
