Here we go again. A new contest to guess/forecast February's low temperature on the summit of Mount Washington.
The winner will be the contestant who is closest to the actual low temperature of the month. The F6 chart will be the official record. Voting will close at 11:59pm on January 31st. You can change your number as much as you want until that time. Also, please include a date for your guess. This will serve as a tie-breaker if more than one person chooses the same temperature.
The contestant who is closest will win one framed 8"x10" photo from my Mount Washington Gallery (http://easternlight.net/). You get to pick which image you like the best. This is a limited edition series. Shipping is free to the United States and Canada.

It's the smoke stack on top of Tip Top House, about the same size as a sign you'd find in the White Mountains. But you can't win it if you don't put down a guess....and a date.

Yes, the date is the tie-breaker. If you don't put down a date you might not win.
Honestly, its in your best interest to wait until the end of the voting period to put down your guess. Everyone is still welcome to change their guess up until 11:59pm on the 31st.
My precise estimate for February is -34 degrees.
On February 14th.

My guess included the date of 2/4/07. I didn't see it on the list. No biggy, just saying...
I've been in Rangeley in February when it was -40 overnight. Not sure of the elevation there, but it's nowhere near 6288'. C'mon Mount Washington, if you can't get down this low this winter really is a dud.

PS- It snowed most of the day here in Kingston- accumulation? Barely a trace!

i did not pick the 15 of Feb
i was using it as an example
so does Any one has an answer to the quote above ?????????
Seems you got on the list with that post. You do have time time to finalize your guess.
My answer would be - if no one has the same temperature, you win for any day in the month.
However, if there are two people with the same temperature and one does not have a date, the one with a date is the winner. Since this would be a tie, the date is used as a tie-breaker. Only one person has a date.
Bill O
01-28-2007, 05:41 PM
Yes, Brad is correct. The date is a tie-breaker. If two people pick the same temperature then who ever has the closest date wins. Here's an example:
Johny123 picks -24 on the 12th of February
Mikey345 picks -24 on the 15th of February
On the 27th it gets to -24 and that is the coldest of the month. Mikey345 wins because the 15th is closer to the 27th.
Sorry, I didn't intend to make this that confusing. If two people pick both the same temp and date they will have to work it. Don't make me cut the photo in half!
Charlie

i think if some one picked a temp first for the month and does not put a date down then they should be the winner if the low temp does not fall on the date that some one that picked a date.
and if the low temp falls on the date that some one picked they win, the the person that was first to pick the temp for that month does not.
so by picking a date you are limited to that date .and if when the contest starts and you are the first to pick a temp that was not picked yet you have the edge .
if this is not right then there must be a rule that says you must pick a date .
then are limited to one temp and one date .....wright:)

Yes, you have to pick a date. The date is the tie-breaker. Case closed.
Yes, you have to pick a date. The date is the tie-breaker. Case closed.
And you thought you were making things simple. Wait till two people have the same temp and they guess 2 days apart - and the actual lowest temperature date was right in between those dates!
The I would say the first guesser wins. S/he is the best guesser.

If you have posted a temp. and not a date and tie with someone with a date, the one with the date, no matter where in the month, wins.
