Wow - fantastic pictures! The undercast shots are amazing - particularly the one with the summit in the band between the undercast and the clouds above.

Welcome to the forums. Looking forward to more of your photography. Curious about the user name. You an IT guy?

Very nice shots. It looks like it was a little cold up there. I am feeling the need to get North as soon as I can. Thanks for sharing your incredable pictures.

Even the word "awesome" seems inadequate to describe your photos!

Thanks for sharing, and welcome to the Forums. I'm looking forward to other postings from you.

Nothing better than an undercast! there are several photographers on this forum that would drool to have a set of pictures like this. I know, I am one!

Truly an excellent pictorial account of your hike! What were conditions like? Did you use traction? What kind? Temps, etc.?

thanks. it was pretty chilly, wet and whiteout for most of the way up. there was a fair bit of scrambling on the caps ridge trail, and the rocks were icy and wet -- so having a pair of warm, waterproof mittens along with foot traction (stabilicers) helped me get through. because of the whiteout, it was easy to lose track of the cairns (some were smaller than usual) and i remember backtracing a couple of times to stay put on the trail. coming out of the cloud cover and watching clouds sway by washington was one of the most exhilarating sights to watch. on the way up, i met a french couple from montreal who alerted me to a "big" surprise waiting at the summit :). it was windy up there (est 30-40 mph) and around 10-20 F. i had to put the balaclava on.

thanks again for the warm welcome. i've been checking out some photos you guys have taken, some are pretty inspiring. i stand to learn a lot in nature photography through your work :).
