Hi Everyone,
We're considering Jackson this Saturday and I'm hoping I should need my new snowshoes.

Any thoughts?

There is definitely enough snow for shoes, but if you plan to go straight up and down then you might get away with microspikes or barebooting. There is a scramble near the top that is usually icy, will need some sort of traction.

If you plan a loop that includes Mt. Webster and the section of Webster Cliff Trail that runs between summits you will probably need them as it could be blown in or have received new snow by then. Depending on what time you start on Saturday, my guess is it will be packed out for you.

I don't see a recent report, but you can check here for latest info:

There's a report from the 16th here:

Hi Lisa,
Jackson is a great hike in the winter. What kind of snowshoes did you purchase?

Donna:)

Thanks KD - that's great to know, looking forward to it!

Hi again Donna! It's been a while :)
We both got a pair of Atlas 12 series...I've used them in our yard during the first big storm but I'm really looking forward to breaking them in on a real trail!

It has been awhile! Good choice on the snowshoes. We plan to leave next Friday for a week in the White Mountains.
(as long as we don't get snowed in down here in Baltimore). Have fun on your hike. We'll be looking for a report.

Donna:)
