Suggestion: Meet-up group thread.

Why not put a meet-up thread on the site? A place for people looking for others to join up. I know some other forums have this, why don't we put one here?

Being that you can start basically any thread you want...you should just do it!

If it's popular it will stay close to the top of the thread list.

I was worried that if many people started these post it would clutter the existing thread. But maybe I will give it a try!

A meet-up thread or open call thread is somewhere you can post looking for a group to go with, or inviting others to join you.

Okay, lots of times people will create a thread and in the subject will be a specific date - looking for a ride - a place to stay - someone to hike with. Having the date in the subject grabs my attention when I am busy and cannot get to the other threads.

and is no one hits on the thread for a couple days then you can just post an up date and it will bring it alive again
