View Full Version : AMC Hut Resupply

The AMC tried to fly a helicopter from Crawford Notch to resupply the huts with their major items. But it was too windy. I got there and asked around where they were and got the answer - "too windy - they are in a parking lot at Cannon Mt".

So, off to Cannon Mt to figure out which parking lot. Found them in a lot tucked off on the side - out of the wind a bit. Still very windy. From there they had a downwind flight to one hut and that was all they were going to try today.

After taking pictures (and warming up) I headed home on the Kanc and stopped to take some pictures. A large snow storm came across the valley and I got in the car and got off the mountain. Still, it was close to white out conditions for a while till I got down to lower elevations.

I saw one picture posted this morning on Facebook saying they were to be lifting from the AMC Highland Center. After I finished several things I drove to Crawford Notch to find no one there.

So, I asked in the Center and they said too windy so they moved operations to a parking lot at Cannon Mt. Well, I drove to Cannon and found them in a back lot and chatted and took pictures. I have always wanted to watch them.

After all the snow they got the other day - and the high winds - it was winter.
