Can anyone tell me what things look like on the trails from Pinkham Notch? I'll be there in a couple weeks.

I'm sure others will reply with a clearer picture for ya but just in case, here are 3 links that will provide you with some information about trail conditions:

http://viewsfromthetop.com/forums/ - Another forum with trail reports broken down by state and then trail names.

http://www.outdoors.org/recreation/tripplanner/go/backcountry-weather.cfm - AMC backcountry and trail conditions. Limited information but it does have tux information.

http://www.mountwashington.org/weather/avalanche/ - USFS avalanche bulletin can give you expected Tux ravine and nearby trail conditions.

I can't give a clear condition down below but at the summit currently, there are plenty of bare rocks with a lot of run-off/mud as well as large patches of snow fields. Up to Lions Head, USFS is still calling for Ice Ax and Crampons. Above Lions Head, I would recommend some sort of light traction like Yak tracks as traversing these fields can be quite slick. And as always, keep an eye on the weather leading up to your hike. Conditions today may not hold until your hike as we can still get several inches of snow or rime ice even down to Pinkham this time of year.

Thanks Ryan, I was just wondering if ice axe and crampons were needed. I planned on taking my Yak Traks with any weather.
