Hi all,

My name is Tracy Goyette and I wanted to share an amazing story of Randy Pierce, a completely blind man who will be hiking the forty eight 4000' peaks in the Whites.

Last year we climbed several peaks including Osceola and Randy decided he wanted to undertake the challenge of attempting the 48. Most recently, he went on a 6 day Pemi loop hike with the UNH Backpacking 551 course and learned a huge array of valuable lessons about how he can best manages the challenges of hiking blind.

His story has been met with such an outpouring of positive responses that ultimately he decided that instead of just doing this for himself that we could turn this into a project which could also benefit the community too. In March the non-profit organization 2020 Vision Quest (http://2020visionquest.org) was formed and we will reach out to people to highlight Randy's message that with careful planning and enough perseverance just about any goal can be realized. Also funds raised will be shared between New Hampshire Association for the Blind and Guiding Eyes for the Blind - two remarkable organizations which were instrumental in Randy's ability to live an independent life as a blind man.

You can see a short video of his work with his guide dog, the Mighty Quinn on the saddle between Bondcliff and Bond in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk20ajQktjs

His first official hike for 2020 Vision Quest will be Mt. Washington this July (weather permitting)

You can follow us on facebook here http://www.facebook.com/2020VQ
or read The Mighty Quinn's blog here at http://zipdogblog.com/ for a day by day report of his experience guiding Randy through the Pemi loop.

I look forward to hearing what you think of this project.

Thank you!
