Baxter State Park in Maine is like a commie 51st state but if you play by the rules you will have a good time. Just don't even think about camping anywhere but where they say you can. ALL the rangers were nice and VERY informative; overall no issues at all; I'll be back.

Just down climbed this wet mess in 50+ mph winds. I'm alone on this hike and really don't want to fall!

A couple arrived about 15 minutes later as I was eating a snack; they just finished the AT - They started in February!

I've yet to go to Baxter, and NEED too. That first shot is amazing! Looks like an epic hike overall!

I love the drama of the later ones with the knife edge and sharper rocks.

Just a note though, the contrasts or colors seem a little off of the first few shots after the sunrise?!?! Maybe just my monitor.

I went back and looked again (my monitors are calibrated) your correct the 6 following the sunrise had a little less contrast bump. I added just a pinch more contrast and exposure to try and match the series. I've gotten lazy as of late and haven't been dragging my tripod, 40d, and lens's :( So all these photos were taken hand-held in high winds with my Panasonic ZS7 P&S.

An exceptional set of photos of your hike up and along the Knife's Edge. Did you take anymore that you could share the link? Always have been fascinated with the beauty and ruggedness of Baxter State Park and especially the Knife's Edge. It took us three trips to Baxter until we had a good weather day to compete the hike; one I will never forget.
