I smell autumn :D I was going to stalk moose on a logging road off the Kancamagus after work but on the way there was a bull holding court for a crowd of happy visitors roadside. I took a few pics...

After a while he walked back into the trees and the crowd dispersed :) I was ready and waiting for this. I headed in and caught up to him as he made his way into a another clearing and I spent the next two hours with him...

The wildflowers of late August portend the magical season just ahead. I could smell autumn...

After grazing for a long time he turned and headed right toward me. I was on my knees and I just watched as he came right up to me and sniffed at me. The heart was thumping a bit. This is not cropped at 19mm.

Then he laid down for a break in a nice patch of goldenrod. Sometimes persistence finally yeilds great rewards...

I laid down quite close to him for a while and he was quite comfortable with me. I tried my moose calls on him and he gave me a few weird looks but otherwise just dozed and rested. I slowly rolled over and crawled, one move at a time, until I was about 8' away. I definately do not recommend doing this. It's probably dangerous, although I don't sense it at the time.

Here's my favorite. I made a moose call and he lifted his nose to sniff me yet again...

He is a beautiful Bull. I do believe they are passing the word around about you. Thats why they are so relaxed around you. Great shots and Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the unbelievable pictures Patrick,I don't know if I would be able to stay still if one got that close to me.You definitely have a most special way with them.:D

All I can do is shake my head. What a gift to inspire such trust in these guys. He's absolutely amazing! Some of your best shots (and one of the best stories to go with it) yet.

Dude, you are crazy! I tried chasing a moose into the woods once to get pics, but I was drunk and smarter heads prevailed! ...And I was afraid to get too close to a big fat freaky looking spider the other day and get a close up. Amazing for sure!

he is one with the Moose , walks as a Moose ,talkes as a Moose ,smells like a Moose :-)

Hah! :) "smells like a moose"... now that has me thinking... how could I......;) Good stuff, Charlie :) Thanks to all for the nice comments. I feel very lucky every time I'm among these beautiful animals.

Patrick, you are very lucky and like many have said before you have a great gift. And I think that we are all thrilled that you share it with us.

(PS. Look in his other thread about the Doe, she smelled him. LOL):p
