View Full Version : A hike on the Raymond Path

Although I've defected to the South, I was back in the Mt. Washington neighborhood last week. I did a really peculiar hike! My idea was to explore a small part of the lower Ravine of Raymond Cataract, which involves bushwhacking from the Raymond Path. As it turned out, the conditions were too unpleasant to go even the short distance I had envisaged. (For those unfamiliar with the RoRC, it's a shallow ravine in between Tuckerman and Huntington.) So I beat a retreat and strolled up to Tucks, only to have a rather heavy snowfall descend upon me. So I went down to Pinkham and had a nice bowl of chili. It was really kind of a comical day, but I actually enjoyed it.

These are the conditions that made me decide to turn around--perfectly doable, just not much fun.

You can read about my outing in more detail here:

I'll be back in summer to try RoRC again!

Love The Raymond Path!

It is a beautiful trail that is not travelled that often.

Looks like you had fun even if you needed to stay on the path.

Nice report and photos.
