This past weekend, my brother, a good friend, and myself were fortunate enough to join a great group of people for an Overnight EduTrip. This was a trip I happily won for reaching a certain donation level in last summer's Seek the Peak. The prize was for two, but we purchased another spot for the third person.

The trip was absolutely fantastic! Lead by Michelle Cruz, with course material on Weather Basics taught by Marsha Rich. We all learned a lot about the topic of weather, which we could tell Marsha is very passionate about.

Anyone who loves this mountain, and has an interest in one of the EduTrip (http://www.mountwashington.org/education/edutrips/) topics, I strongly urge you to consider attending one someday. You will be impressed!

In this photo, we are gathered in the parking lot, waiting to walk down to the maintenance shed where the Snow Cat is waiting.

One neat thing about these EduTrips is that we can take turns sitting up front with Wayne our driver. I got to go first. Here we go!

Part way up, we stopped to get out and experience the views, cold, wind and blowing snow.

Here Wayne tackles a somewhat large snow drift we encountered.

On the home stretch now, with the Obs in clear view.

Lunch was waiting for us when we got there. All our meals were prepared by two super volunteers....

Lance and Gates

On Saturday afternoon, we were greeted with the most beautiful Blue Bird skies.

Rime ice was covering just about everything.

This was all seven of us who signed up. A great group they were too!

On Saturday evening, we had a fairly nice sunset to enjoy.

And of course, I cannot forget one of my favorite members of the crew, Marty!

We had class Saturday afternoon, and this was the continuation on Sunday morning. Sorry it's a little blurry.

Rebecca does a very nice job explaining the instruments on the Weather Wall.

And finally, all good things have to come to an end. Marsha and Mark seated in the Snow Cat heading down the mountain.

I would personally like to thank Michelle, Marsha, and the whole Obs crew for making our stay a memorable, fun, and educational experience.

It must have been an incredible feeling being on the top of Mount Washington in winter.
A terrific slideshow too. Another plus was having the opportunity to meet more of our "family" from the forum. Did you get a chance to venture outside much?
-30 degrees.:cool:I've never been in temps that cold. Brrrrrrrr

Did you get a chance to venture outside much?

Donna, yes. We got the chance to go out quite often and wonder around the summit.

Though they're a little late for this thread, here are a few videos my brother took while on the trip. They turned out pretty good for video taken on a camera.

Here we are leaving the maintenance yard on our way to the Auto Road.

This one is at about the 4 1/2 mile mark.

In this one, our driver Wayne has a little plowing to do.

And the last one is from Sunday early afternoon shortly before leaving the summit. We were having so much fun on the deck, we hardly felt the cold.
