has anyone been on the north slide of north tripyramid in the winter. i am going to be camping out by the tripyramids this weekend and wondered what the conditions on the slide were like. i have been on the slide in the summer and i have been on north hancocks slide in the winter. i am thinking with crampons the slide could be a lot of fun to do but i want to see if anyone has actual expereince on them. thanks

You best bet on finding recent info on the trail conditions is here: http://www.newenglandtrailconditions.com/
Didn't find anything recent on the Tri's via the slides and other than the small section of South from the summit. Here's a post of VFTT with some pretty serious warnings about the slides (particularly North) in the winter. http://www.viewsfromthetop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20390. I think most people do them from the other side in winter (due to accessibility as well).
Clearly you don't want to take my word on any of this since I have no first hand experience. We did do North slide last fall and I know that my reaction at the time was I sure wouldn't want to be on that trail in winter.

We did the N. Tri slide last winter. I enjoyed it and didn't think it was all that difficult. My only thought is that the snow pack last year wasn't what it is this year. Last year when we did it, it was very stable. I don't know if that changes year to year and whether or not avalanches are a concern. Here's a link to my trip report from last year.
