Has anyone ever taken advantage of the Subaru new car discount offered to all members of the MWOBS? We are hoping to buy one at the end of the year and was questioning if this discount is really a big deal or not. thanks

We purchased a 2011 Outback this year and as I was going thru the MW discount I found that you had to get the paper work and basically tell them (subaru) which dealer you were to be buying from and what you wanted and then they would set the price no haggling or anything. I got a quote from a dealer in NH and was told it was what it would be with the MWO discount and I did some researching and found that I could buy it locally and they still gave me the so called discount which is suppose to be 3% and I was told that all MWO got was $100.00. I ended up buying at my local dealer in Ma. and saved a couple thousand dollars and I just put an extra $100.00 on my STP page. Some people might have had dif. experinces but that was mine.Good luck. I am sure it does help the MWO with Subaru knowing that you went thru MWO but a couple thousand dollars is a big difference.

I was with a MWO member yesterday and he just bought a new Subaru through this VIP program and was happy with the deal he got.

Our family bought 2 Imprezas last year (a 2010 and a 2011) on Long Island (I don't know if location makes a difference). I contacted MWO with the dealership name and they did the paperwork. A day or so later, I walk in and get the car for 2% below invoice. Yes, with time and working multiple dealers I may have gotten close to the same deal - maybe. So if you really don't enjoy haggling or want to wait until the end of the model year it's the way to go. Note that if you're looking at an Impreza, the 2012 will be a significant change that may give you an opportunity to snag a 2011 at a lower price after July.

If you decide to go this route, my one piece of advice is to find a dealer and salesperson you are comfortable with before you call MWO. I had and that may the no haggle pricing just that much better.

Great news - and the Observatory gets a contribution from Subaru for each of these purchases we make. And each purchase reinforces to Subaru that their aprtnership with the Observatory is valuable to them.

Well I finally bit the bullet and got rid of my '99 Subaru and bought a 2012. I have had 3 cars since 1976 (this is my 4th). I drive them to the ground and get the most of my investment. The Observatory membership really was a plus. I was able to get a 2k discount because of my membership, plus the Observatory gets a $100 donation from Subaru for every car bought by a member. I hope to drive this car for 12 plus years like my past cars. I just wanted people to know that being a member has some perks that some people may not realize.
