With an injury and frigid weather to deal with I decided to visit a much overlooked turn-off in Franconia Notch. I found much more than a big rock!

Learned of this legend years ago from a stop in the notch. I immediately thought of the same Star Wars scene!

Thanks KD! It's a good one, and one the last places in Franconia Notch that I hadn't explored until now! Glad you enjoyed the story.

You're welcome Anne!
KDT: It's a great story, one I had not heard until now!
Geno: Nice! I will have to look up that episode now!

Great story that brings attention to a place most of us just drive past....
Hope all went well with your surgery..

That was a good story to read while having my morning coffee, next December when I am up that way, I would love to check out those cliffs w/o the trees and leaves.
I hope that your surgery went well and you are feeling much better. :)

Thanks Baxter and Kathy! And thank you for asking about the surgery. It went well, I'm on the mend and hope to be taking small hikes by March.
If you or anyone is interested I wrote a whole series on the injury and operation. You can find it here: Adventures in Hernialand (http://ekpadventures.wordpress.com/adventures-in-hernia/)
