Greeley Ponds On A Spring Like Day

Distance: 4.4 miles
Elevation Gain: minimal
Time: 3.5 hours

This past weekend, my friend John and I were able to escape Southtown where we haven't seen
any snow since Halloween, and meet up with two very good friends, Gary and Anna. We had previously
settled on a relatively easy hike this time since they have been very busy as of late, and have not
been able to get out and hike much this winter. Anna suggested Greeley Ponds, and since neither
John or I had ever been there, it seemed like a good choice.

From the outset, we could tell that snowshoes would not be needed as most of
the trail was packed out well enough to just bare boot it. There was a little
chill in the air when we began, but temperatures quickly rose to a spring like
40 degrees as the morning progressed.

Since John and I haven't really seen any snow the entire winter, it was so
good to be back in New Hampshire enjoying the scenery and white stuff.

That I believe is East Osceola. I was just up there last September 11th for
Flags On The 48. That was our summit to proudly fly Old Glory!

As we approached the second, larger pond, the view really opened up to show
the surrounding mountains. Ah, it was good to be in New Hampshire, hiking again!

It was so nice to look into the woods and see what appeared to be about
18 inches of snow covering everything.

Nice report Bob. I like how the branches at the top of the second-to-last photograph look like a spider web.
