"Nothing to Put them on." ???

Just read the observers blog - and I wish there was a comment section. He says:

Mt Washington in March means bring along skis, but alas, there was nothing to put them on that resembled snow.

I dunno how long they were up there, but last weekend looked like a gem in Tuckerman Ravine, as evidenced by these posts:

I agree, plenty of snow in the ravines and east snowfields. But the summit was unusually snow free.

Perhaps they were referring to this area of the mountain.

Taken from the 3/28 comment:

"...took the truck to 2 miles up the road, and beyond that, we found long bare spots usually covered with feet of drift. Moreover, lots of rock and exposed vegetation on slopes typically skied this time of year. It was very much a spring-like trip back to winter. The ravines are still good, but otherwise, the snow is all down in the trees. Very strange..."
