Hello fellow jetstream wanderers,

Just wanted to introduce myself - kinda new to the forum here. :p

I've hiked the rockpile a few times, as well as done the touristy thing on the cog and the auto road. ;) Spent most of my childhood romping around the White Mountains, only got back to it in the last few years. Love it up there - where else in New England can you get a week's worth of completely different weather every day within a 1-hour minute time span?

I was just up on the rockpile less than two weeks ago and believe me...I missed the weather up there a lot today!!

A bit hot here.....was nice though, kept the customers away! Nice break in the heat now.....perfect hiking weather.

Yes, hello! A small group of are heading up to the rock pile on Sunday via the Ammo Trail with stop at the hut, then summit Monroe and on to Big George. This is a big hike and only the fit should join us. Just Monroe: r.t. 7.2 miles, 2,900 feet, 5:05. Just the rockpile: The Ammonoosuc Ravine trail (combined with the Crawford Path), rt: 9.0 miles, 3,800 feet, 6:30. Both: add a mere .6 mile. The Lake of the Clouds hut affords shelter, water and rest.
Meet and gear up at the Cog R.R. Station at the end of Base Road (near Fabyans Lounge on Rte 302) for an 8:30 start. Let me know if you wish to join us.
