Ryan, thanks for your comments today about ads and signs. The picture of the little boy looking out the window with that expression on his face made me LOL.

I too like signs. In NY where there is a T intersection they post the speed limit of the cross street just before the intersection. So, you see a 50mph speed sign right before a stop sign. On route 2 in Maine a few years ago (in the middle of nowhere) I saw a general store/deli/gas station/apartment upstairs building with a sign out front, "Come in, eat and get gas".

Ok - I see you will be checking thermometers for accuracy. Will that have to be done at a range of temperatures? Are are there a couple of points one checks for each thermometer and then the rest of the temperatures have the same adjustment factor?

That device looks cool, pun intended. Glad to see they are on the ball with accurate temps. It should be noted that +/- 1 degree celsius is within the acceptable range for accuracy.

Let's hope they are doing the same for their wind measurements.

Maybe we should all chip in for a wind tunnel for calibrating the wind instruments too.

I sort of remember a sign like that outside Jimmy's Diner in Auburn, The State of Maine, back in the 1950s.

The IT position is a new position on the summit. Each shift has three observers. A staff meteorologist, an educational observer, and an IT observer. We currently have our six observers with Steve being the last in our trifecta per shift.

We have always had IT but they usually reside in the valley making it to fix things when they brake in the winter when sometimes only one snow cat makes it up a week. The IT observer will now do our summit IT things and the valley IT will focus on that end.

What is the typical Summit IT Observer's reaction when they see the server room up top with the open windows letting the fog roll in? I know my reaction.
