Will our friends at the observatory be posting an extended STP forcast for us?
It's never too early to talk "Weather on the Rock Pile" ;). As you know today is shift change day so, I'm sure the observer(s) will be actively looking ahead at the STP forecast.
#HikeStrong STP'ers
Right now it looks like it will be hot and extremely humid, but I'm not a weather person, only pretending to be one.
Thanks Kathy!
Long-term forecasts are hinting at a messy day...but the mountain does what the mount does!
Chris
I will tell the weather to behave. I'm meteorologist (sort of), I can do that.
Whether the weather listens...well...:)
I do hope it's a lovely day and everyone has a great hike!
From the STP and MWO facebook pages...
*****ATTENTION SEEK THE PEAK PARTICIPANTS*****
We are carefully watching a storm system that may affect our ability to hike on Saturday. Please watch this page and your inboxes for updates tomorrow and Friday, and share this information with other Seek the Peak hikers you know!
Having just got home today from my volunteer week on the summit, I have seen what the weather models were showing. At the moment... rain and high winds are being predicted.
So now the question is...what happens if we can't climb on Saturday...never been faced with this kind of weather prediction for STP?
Good question. Maybe a lower elevation hike if it's not raining too hard?
I posted my weather assessment/forecast discussion in todays higher summits page: http://www.mountwashington.org/weath...t_forecast.php.
I was hoping you were just being pessemistic...
Do you think timing will play a role, that is, is the heavy whether likely to be a late afternoon event or is this an all day scenario for Saturday?
Thanks
Chris
