My wife, dog and I made our fourth climb on Washington, second time to the summit this year. Not as many as I'd like, I say, my wife would disagree. This was our first ascent via the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail. It was a beautiful day until we got above treeline. The temp of course dropped and there was a steady breeze, but it was still quite calm for the Crawford Path to the summit which was invisible above the Westside Trail. As soon as we got into the cloudcap the landscape was transformed from the usual barren wasteland to one covered in intricate, feathery shapes attached to each rock and blade of sedge as though Old Man Winter tried to blanket the earth in frozen goosedown. We stopped in for a quick hello at the Obs but headed out quickly as the day was getting long and the long part of the trail was still ahead. Back down at the edge of the Great Gulf we could see again, though the Presidents kept their heads in the clouds. Another great hike. Another great experience. I've posted the trip on my website. Also, if anyone's interested, I've posted all my trips to Washington on my site. More pictures than you'll ever want to look at, probably, but they're there.
That is a great set of pictures! that is the same set of trails I did with my grnadson this past July. You had better conditions by a long shot. I love the frozen sedge pictures.
